42 year old mother of four and devoted wife.
As a survivor of domestic violence and childhood abuse I saw a repeating pattern playing out in my life early on and at 29 years old I found myself in transitional housing with 3 small children after leaving an abusive marriage. During that time I was working a full time job and attending college with a focus in nursing.
I credit that 5 months with teaching me how to become a stronger woman, a better mother and an exceptional nurse. It saved my life, helped me find myself and redirected my future. Since that time I have graduated from UAHuntsville with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing, remarried and had another child.
I have had a fulfilling career in healthcare for the past 15 years. I began my journey in 2007 at Huntsville Hospital where I worked as a Coordinator of Operations in Environmental Services. I graduated from UAHuntsville in 2013 and transitioned to bedside nursing at Madison Hospital working with post surgical and critically ill patients.
In 2015 I relocated to the Birmingham area working as a Critical Care Nurse and eventually transitioning into a role in the Critical Care Float Pool. My current focus of practice is working as a Critical Care and Cardiac Cath Lab Nurse for Tenet Healthcare. It is an honor and a privilege to be able to help others in their time of need. I hope to one day be able to use the trials and tribulations of my youth to help others overcome and escape similar situations.
